WEAVING FANTASY

an exhibition on fantastic conversations between Australia and Japan

Both Australia and Japan have thriving fantasy fiction scenes. This exhibition explores conversations and connections between Australia and Japan through fantasy stories.

On the monitors are some examples of the Australian fantasy fiction that has been translated and published in Japan. The display case features books and objects that show how Australian writers, translators, and scholars have taken up Japanese fantasy.

Exhibition organised by Lucy Fraser with Sonia Broad, Sam Round,

Christiana Palella, Dana Durre, and Elara Crook.

The exhibition is a part of the Festival of The Fantastic in Australian and Japanese Arts, a series of events aiming to develop networks between artists, audiences, and academics of the fantastic.

This exhibition is held on the land of the Jagera and Turrbal people.
